Stone Sheep

Stone Sheep is one of the rarest animals in world, only found in the northern regions of British Columbia and in the southern part of Yukon. Besides the challenging way of hunting, the rarity of this specie makes the hunt for the Stone Sheep ram so sought after. At Williston Lake Outfitters, we will be hunting Stone Sheep from horseback, riding through the magnificent high mountains. Spending a lot of time behind binoculars, it is highly recommended that you bring as highest quality optics you can. Being in good physical condition will help you stalk the steep mountain sides. This high-country animal is smart and very wary. Be prepared for some long-distance shooting! On the day of your arrival at our main camp, you will have time to check your riffle or your bow at our shooting ranges, have time to relax and get everything packed and ready for the hunt. The day after your arrival, we will take you to one of our camp sites, where the horses are waiting to take you far out in the back country of our mountains. You will set up a spike camp, have a nice hot meal and a good night’s sleep before your first hunting day! A true wilderness hunting adventure is waiting for you!

MOUNTAIN GOAT

This hunt is really something special! The hunt for the beautiful white mountain goat is one of the toughest and most challenging ones. The steep mountain sides at Williston Lake Outfitters are home for a good and strong population of that specie, and if that is on your list, we will be happy to make your dream come true. The horses take us far up in the high country and we set up base camp just underneath the tree line. In the mornings we jump on the horses and they will take us as high up the magnificent mountain as possible, and from here the climb on foot begins. We will find a good spot and spend many hours behind binoculars spotting for the right Billy. We might decide to go spike camping for a few days, depending on where we spot the Billy. We recommend you to be in good physical condition as well as be prepared for a true wilderness adventure. Besides your professional guide, you will be accompanied by a wrangler, and the most spectacular nature sights and surroundings in the beautiful Rocky Mountains, so do no forget your camera! You will not find it hard to leave your everyday life behind for a short while! You can combine your hunt for Mountain Goat with hunt for Elk, Moose and Black Bear.

BLACK BEAR

The Black Bear is the most common bear in British Columbia. We have a strong population of this beautiful bear. The color range from black to almost white. The most common is black, but brown is not uncommon at our area. In the spring the bears are hungry and look for the first green grasses to start their digestion after hibernation. We hunt the bears along the old logging roads in our area and in the cut blocks where the spring grass will start early. Perfect for hungry bears. We will spend lots of time watching those logged areas with binoculars as well as looking for tracks on the gravel roads from the side-by-sides. We also hunt the bears on the green hillsides along the lake, spotting from the boat or from a tent camp on the opposite shore. We stay at our main lodge, at remote cabins or in tent camps, depending on how the hunt plays out, and where we have spotted the best Black Bears. No matter your physical capability, or whether you want to hunt by bow or riffle, we will adapt, and make your dreams for a great hunt come true. If you need a break from hunting, we have great fishing opportunities in the huge Williston Lake, as well as in our many rivers, creeks and lakes.
